Type Locality and Naming
Type locality is Bayinhe in Delingka, Tianjun County, Qinghai Province. Named by Fan Jiasong et al, 1962, in Yang Zhunyi et al., Geology of Qilianshan Mountain, v. 4, fasc 4, p. 135-187. Composed of a lower Lemengou Fm (coarse-grained sandstone to bio-limestone) and an upper Caodigou Fm (sandstone).
Lithology and Thickness
Mainly sandstone to limestone.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable contact with the underlying Caledonian (Silurian) pink porphyritic granite.
Upper contact
Disconformable contact with the overlying Hajier Fm of the Nuoyinhe Gr

Fossils
Lemengou Fm yields Fusulinida represented by Staffella moellerana and Misellina; Corals represented by Protomichelinia aff. multiabulata; and Bryozoan represented by the Fenestella qinghaiconstans-Fistulipora megastoma assemblage, etc. Caodigou Fm has Brachiopod fauna represented by the-Pygmochonetes minor assemblage, and Bryozoans of the Dyscritella sinensis-Pseudobatostomella abnormis-Maychella assemblage.

Shallow-sea deposits formed at the early stage of marine transgression; transition into marine sands and limestone.
